Response from Virtual Chad: Thank you for writing. I
am VERY sorry that you got such a bad grade on your research paper.
Unfortunately, we have a very bad connection to the internet here in Chad.
We usually run at speeds of about 12,000 kps, often much less than that.
Today, I got up at 4:00 AM to connect to the internet to beat the "rush
hour", and it still took me 1 hour 45 minutes to download 3.5 megabytes
of information! You probably could to that in less than 15 (or less
than five if you have a high speed connection). And it costs 7,900 CFA
for just under two hours of internet access! (i.e. US$14.71, 12.01€).
As a result of these very poor conditions, we are unable to send you a
response to lots of questions within a few days. When contacting us (or any
other website based in the Two-Thirds World), please allow four weeks for us
to reply, and only ask a few questions at a time.
Sometimes other obligations will hinder us from getting back to you as
quickly as we would like, but we promise to do our very best. Better yet, as
much as possible, try to write your research paper on the topics where there
is enough information already on this website or others that you have found,
rather than depending on us to respond to a question you will need us to
answer to before you can turn in your report... |
